Exploring and Photographing Alaska

Southeastern Alaska harbors the last of the best remaining Temperate Rainforest Wilderness in the World. Existing only from Oregon, through Washington and British Columbia into the northern portion of Southeast Alaska, the Temperate Rainforest is an environment unique and unequaled. Mountainous Islands and the mainland Coast Ranges rise steeply out of a pristine ocean of diversity. Clear, unpolluted streams flow off snow-capped mountains cascading, in some cases, dramatically to the ocean below. Old growth trees of 600-800 years create the canopy for the lush blanket of vegetation. That flora diversity hosts a myriad of animals - terrestrial, aerial and aquatic. Brown Bear, Black Bear, Wolf, Sitka Black-Tailed Deer, Mountain Goat, Bald Eagles, a wide variety of migratory Waterfowl and Sea Birds, Seals, Sea Otters, Humpback Whales, Orca, Halibut and 5 species of Pacific Salmon are just some of the Wildlife that abundantly inhabit this region.

Glacier Bay National Park, harboring 16 Tidewater Glaciers, is truly one of the wonders of the world. Less than 200 years ago, Glacier Bay was a solid ice field, 5,000 feet thick! Today, that ice has receded nearly 100 miles, leaving a magnificent bay. Entry into the Park is strictly limited by concession permit, thus ensuring a remarkable wilderness experience.

Our 78-foot, custom built yacht, the Alaskan Grandeur, will serve as your luxurious accommodations during your cruise with us. The varying equipment aboard the Alaskan Grandeur provide a myriad of activities. Aboard the vessel are 4 18-foot Sea Kayaks. The protected inside passage waters allow for a relaxing paddle at a vastly different point of view. Kayaking amongst the floating icebergs at the edge of a glacier is an experience not soon forgotten. Four 16-foot Lund skiffs and/or the 22-foot sport fisher, Seclusion, also provide great mobility in photographing both sea and land mammals. Humpback Whales often congregating during their feeding habits allow for fantastic viewing opportunities. The local Stellar Sea Lion rookery is another fabulous attraction.
