Hunting

With over 40 years of guiding experience in Southeast Alaska, Glacier Guides, Inc. is an exceptional choice for your next Hunt. Glacier Guides, Inc. was formed in 1974 by Master Guides Jimmie C. and Mary Ann Rosenbruch. the years, the business has grown to be one of the largest professional Guide/Outfitter operations in the State of Alaska. Glacier Guides is family-owned and operated, with several of the children and their spouses involved.

Glacier Guides, Inc. guides have over 100 years of combined guiding experience. Jimmie C. Rosenbruch was the 2005 Safari Club International Professional Hunter of the Year and was awarded the Weatherby Conservation and Hunting Award (the Oscar of hunting). His daughter, Alisha “Mutts” Rosenbruch-Decker was the 2008 Safari Club International Professional Hunter of the Year. Professional Hunters Association and Safari Club International have a joint awards program for exceptional animals taken each year in Alaska. Since its’ inception, Glacier Guides has taken nearly every First, Second, and Third place award for Black Bear; with numerous awards for Brown Bear, Wolf, Mountain Goat, and Sitka Black-Tail Deer over the years. Glacier Guides is authorized use of the largest number of Guide Use Areas (GUA’s) in the state by the US Forest Service on the Tongass National Forest. What does this mean for you? We always have somewhere we can go to help make your hunt successful; and with yachts serving as mobile base camps, the move is comfortable!

Glacier Guides is dedicated to providing Ethical, Free-Range, Spot-and-Stalk Hunting adventures. The pure form of hunting is something that may be viewed differently by each hunter, but when examined closely, there are some key elements that set “pure” Hunting apart from “shooting” or “collecting.” One thing is for sure; if you, as a Hunter, wish to come and experience some of the most dramatic and strikingly beautiful country in the world, with the added bonus of hunting some of the most magnificent creatures on the planet, then this is the adventure for you. Fair chase hunting, especially for difficult, rare, or larger trophies, may require more than one hunt. Glacier Guides maintains nearly 100% Shooting Opportunity for trophy Brown Bear, Black Bear, Mountain Goat, and Black-tail Deer.

Unexpected physical effort and walking may be required on this hunt. The bottom line is that if you come with an open mind and a desire to enjoy yourself, it is a given you will have a successful time - whether that ‘perfect’ trophy is harvested or not. We invite you to come and enjoy the splendor of Southeast Alaska!

Trophy Care: Trophies are professionally prepped and finished, ready-to-tan on board the yacht, saving you the added cost and frustration of a taxidermist/expediter.

We arrange for ADF&G bear sealing, then shipping at your expense direct to the tannery, same-day air service, so that your hide is taken care of properly. Following tanning, your hide is delivered to your taxidermists’ door ready for mounting. Depending on the type of tan you request, this process takes between 2 to 4 months. Tanning and shipping rates available upon request.

Skulls must also be sealed by ADF&G. sealing we recommend a Beetle Cleaning service as opposed to boiling of skulls. This service returns the skull to you pristine white with no tooth loss or skull plates loose, but a work of art; ready for display.
